The curtain opens for the Pagosa Springs Community Choir, Friday night for our 2010 Christmas concert series.
The choir, under the direction of Larry Elginer and accompanied by Venita Burch, will once again celebrate the musical magic of Christmas.
The concert’s theme song this year, “Evening in December,” by Victor Johnson and John Parker, is a quiet, gentle song that speaks of the kind spirit that is the perfect example of the Christmas spirit.
Reaching all the way back to 1951, Meredith Willson’s “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” rings a nostalgic for those of us who have “been around for awhile.”
The concert features a variety of musical styles, the Jazz Choir, several fine soloists, and, of course, the rich choral sound that the Community Choir is known for.
Soloists featured in some of the selections include Perry Schjolin, Rachael Hellwege, Roger Jensen, Sue Diffee and Kaitlen Richey. The instrumentalists will be D’Ann Artis on horn and Karen Dannewitz and Karen Harper on the flute.
The dates are Dec. 3 and 4 at 7 p.m., and Dec. 5 at 4 p.m., with performances at the high school auditorium.
There is no charge for the concert, but donations are gratefully accepted. Don’t miss it!
