On Dec. 8, Wild Spirit Gallery and local artist Paula Jo Miller will team up to raise funds for Pagosa Animal Advocates (PAA), a local animal welfare organization.
“This is a great example of how Pagosa businesses can support Pagosa non-profits,” said Madeline Lyon, Wild Spirit Gallery owner and PAA board member. “Plus we’re excited to show Paula’s work. She’ll feature eight to ten paintings and has generously offered to donate one-hundred percent of the evening’s net proceeds to PAA.”
Miller is a local abstract artist and also a PAA board member.
“I’m proud to make this opening a fund-raiser for PAA,” Miller said. “The organization does so much for local animals. Because of PAA, animals once struggling in horrible conditions are now living in loving homes. I’ll do anything I can to keep that momentum going.” Miller indicated her donation will be made to PAA’s Spay and Neuter Program.
Founded earlier this year, Pagosa Animal Advocates protects and promotes the welfare of local animals through rescue, rehabilitation and legislation, with a focus on elderly and special-needs animals – those most often overlooked in the adoption process.
“We will not abandon any animal we promise to help,” said Jackie Denton, PAA founder and president. “Because we have no overhead, all funds donated to PAA go directly to helping Pagosa animals. In this economy it’s been a challenge to raise funds, so we’re thrilled that Madeline and Paula are hosting this fund-raiser.”
This holiday fund-raiser will feature a variety of beverages, delicious hors d’ oeuvres, holiday music and silent auction packages donated by local businesses.
