The “elves” at the 48th annual Russ Hill Bazaar at the Community United Methodist Church are already busy creating hundreds of wreaths and table arrangements for your holiday giving and enjoyment.
Truckloads of fresh greens have been gathered from local forests for the endeavor. This is your annual opportunity to send friends and relatives across the country a fresh and delightful gift from Pagosa Springs.
The bazaar is operating Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The last day to place an order is Wednesday, Dec. 1, and the final day for walk-in table arrangement purchases or for order pickups is Friday, Dec. 10.
The bazaar will be closed Nov. 25-28 so the elves can enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday season.
You can drop by the church at 434 Lewis St. directly across the street from the Methodist Thrift Shop and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. You can phone in an order as well. The order desk phone number is 264-4538. Note: this is a different number from the Church office.
Orders are also accepted by mail. Mail order reminders have gone out to those who ordered wreaths last year.
The elves are making eight and 14 inch wreaths for both pickup and shipping this year. The basic eight-inch wreath cost is $25 and shipping cost is $11. The 14-inch basic wreath is $40 with a shipping cost of $12. Basic wreaths include fresh greenery, pinecones and a large ribbon bow. You can select one of several colors for your bow.
There will be some 16-inch wreaths available by special order for local purchase. It is not possible to ship the 16-inch wreaths, however. If you wish to have a 16-inch wreath it is best to place your order early to assure that one will be available for you.
You can also customize your wreath and arrangement orders with specific embellishments. You can select and purchase custom decorations at the bazaar or you can bring in your own items to be added to your purchases. You are always welcome to head back to the “workshop” at the church to select your items personally and to watch the elves in action.
Each year the net proceeds from this bazaar are distributed throughout the community, in the form of mini grants to non- profit and service organizations.
Last year approximately 20 grants totaling nearly $17,000 were awarded to deserving groups.
By supporting the Russ Hill Memorial Bazaar you not only have a lovely gift or decoration; you are helping many citizens of our community as well.
