Mrs. Delphine Stella McFatridge, 90 years of age, of Pagosa Springs, Colo., went home to her Lord on Nov. 14, 2010. Delpha was born on Jan. 29, 1920, in Trujillo, Colo., to Jose Feliciano Valdez and Maria Josepha Martinez.
Delpha chose nursing as her career early in life. Upon completion of the nursing program she was employed at Mercy Hospital in Durango, Colo., for several years. Delpha married Harvey “Mac” McFatridge on Sept.15, 1956, in Aztec, N.M. Together they had four children: Harvey, Beverly, Noreen and Jennette.
Delpha was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and served actively as a Guadalupana and as a member of the Altar Society for many years.
She is survived by her children Harvey (Stella) McFatridge Jr., Beverly (Sammy) Martinez, Noreen (Danny) Griego, and Jennette (Charlie) Martinez; her grandchildren Natasha (Dennis) Smith, Jesse Martinez, Matthew (Deirdre) McFatridge, Jason McFatridge, Danielle and Sandra Griego, Tamara (Chris) Tressler, and Shane Martinez; her great-grandchildren Jordyn Martinez, Payton Smith, Chance McReynolds, Juanita Gallegos, Jacob Griego and Dylan and Luke Tressler. She is also survived by her brother, Gene Valdez, of Alamogordo, N.M., and sister Arabella Martinez of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Delpha is preceeded in death by her husband, Harvey Sr.; her sisters Rose Facker, Phyllis Hakes, Rachel Archuleta and Elisama Martinez; and her brother, Gilbert Valdez.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Trujillo, Colo.
