A sea of bowls.
Pagosa Springs art teachers Gail Hershey, Janet Knocke and Tessie Garcia have offered a great opportunity for local people and clay enthusiasts to give back to the community.
Class participants made over 300 bowls for the Empty Bowls Event, to be held this Saturday, Nov. 13, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Pagosa Springs High School.
All clay has been donated by New Mexico Clay, Albuquerque, N.M., and all proceeds benefit local food banks.
For $10 you get to choose a bowl. The bowl is then filled with soup donated by students and community members; in an effort organized by Joanne Irons. The humble meal includes bread and a beverage.
These bowls are each unique and beautiful and can be kept as a reminder of the hunger struggle of people in our community and the world.
