For this month’s club meeting program the club is pleased to present Jeanine Malaney “Art from a Painter’s Perspective.” Elements of design comprise inspiration, composition, light, color and value. Inspiration involves choosing your subject matter. In composition you must determine your focal point and decide where to place it in the painting. (The focal point is where you want the viewer’s eye to go and rest.) Your painting will become extraordinary if you understand your light source and enhance the light impact with correct and consistent value, shade and shadow. There are many components to color; we will discuss intensity, value, temperature, mood, and the power of complements. Jeanine will explore each of these subjects in depth in her presentation.
A photo exhibit is held during each club meeting. Two categories are presented — the monthly theme category and the open category allowing any subject. This month’s theme is “Fall.” Members may enter as many as three prints or six digital images. President T.J. Reynolds will lead the critique of photos. This will be done as a group rather than by specified judges.
The Photography Club meets the second Wednesday of each month during the club year from September through May at 6 p.m. interested photography enthusiasts are welcome to attend at no charge for the first meeting. Any and all are invited to join for annual dues of $20 for single individuals and $30 for family membership. For more information, contact Reynolds at email@example.com or 731-9581.
