Scouts participate in Operation Christmas child

On Monday, Sept. 13, Scoutmaster Jean Lindberg, assistant Scoutmaster Dave Bates, Cubmaster Kurt Raymond and several Scout parents met at the Scouts’ regularly scheduled Monday evening meeting at the Community United Methodist Church to discuss their participation in this year’s Operation Christmas Child campaign in Pagosa.

As an active fourth year participant in the Operation Christmas Child program, the Scouts reinforced to those in attendance the importance of giving a gift box to children less fortunate than many children in Pagosa. The Scouts assembled 58 red and green shoeboxes, and with each box, one handmade sock doll was included in each box.

On Saturday, Oct. 2, the Scouts were at the City Market to ask our friends to fill a shoebox with toys and other gifts of love that will bring joy and hope to boys and girls who are 2 to 14 years of age and who are in desperate situations around the world.

We invite you, your family, and church or club group to join us in this unique mission project with your gifts of love box.

Beginning Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. through Nov. 21 at 5 p.m. you can deliver your box to the Relay Center at Cross Road Christian Fellowship church (formerly Mountain Heights).
