The Four Corners Chapter of the Mule Deer Foundation will host its first annual banquet and fund-raiser on Oct. 2 at the Sky Ute Casino in Ignacio.
Tickets are $65 for a single, or $95 per couple, and available by calling Keith Poulton at 769-5740.
The Mule Deer Foundation is a nonprofit conservation organization, with nearly 100 chapters nationwide, dedicated to stopping the decline of mule deer — North America’s only big game species whose numbers continue to decline.
While the banquet’s proceeds will help fund national efforts, the Mule Deer Foundation’s unique Chapter Rewards program allows the chapter and its volunteers to dedicate a portion of the banquets proceeds toward local projects.
“Mule Deer Foundation volunteers, undoubtedly, are our most valuable asset,” said Miles Moretti, Mule Deer Foundation president and CEO. “This dedicated group of conservationists not only work tirelessly at raising critical conservation funding, and serving as our eyes and ears — identifying local projects that could have a significant impact on mule deer survival — when local agencies call they respond by rolling up their sleeves and getting the job done. It’s the kind of group I’m proud to be associated with.”
