Unofficially, the results are in for the Aug. 10 primary, with Archuleta County voters both agreeing and disagreeing with the statewide results.
Archuleta County vote totals are as of the morning of Aug. 11 and do not include provisional ballots. The provisional ballots (ballots where there are questions about a voter’s eligibility) were to be counted Aug. 11 and the results are scheduled to be canvassed Monday.
Republicans accounted for the majority of contested races within the state and all of the contested races for Archuleta County offices.
For Archuleta County Assessor, Natalie Woodruff received 1,128 votes, defeating incumbent Keren Prior, who received 452 votes. Woodruff now faces Democratic candidate Fred Uehling in the General Election.
In the Archuleta County Coroner race, Carl Macht won by tallying 959 votes, while challenger Richard Aldahl notched 583. There is no Democratic opposition in the race.
All three state offices up for election were contested only on the Republican and Libertarian ballots.
In Archuleta County, Scott McInnis defeated Dan Maes in the race for Governor, with 773 and 743 votes, respectively, though Maes defeated McInnis statewide.
On the Libertarian ballot, Jaimes Brown tallied eight votes for Governor in Archuleta County, while Dan “Kilo” Sallis received one vote. Statewide, Brown defeated Sallis, meaning the November ballot will see a faceoff between Maes, Brown, Democratic candidate John Hickenlooper and third-party candidate Tom Tancredo.
Archuleta County Republican voters saw eye-to-eye with the statewide results for State Treasurer, with Walker Stapleton receiving 717 votes and challenger J.J. Ament receiving 515. Stapleton will face incumbent Dem. Cary Kennedy on the November ballot.
For State Senate, District 6, Ellen Roberts tallied 865 votes in Archuleta County, while Dean Boehler received 658, again in agreement with the statewide result. Roberts will face Dem. Bruce Whitehead on the November ballot.
Federal offices held the most contested races, with the U.S. Senate race holding contested races on all three ballots — Republican, Democratic and Libertarian.
Archuleta County’s Republican voters again voted with the state by giving Ken Buck 880 votes and Jane Norton 661.
Democratic voters in Archuleta County chose Michael Bennet (325 votes) over Andrew Romanoff (163 votes), just as the rest of the state did.
Libertarians in Archuleta County voted six times for Maclyn “Mac” Stringer, while only voting three times for John Finger. Statewide, Stringer was victorious.
The General Election ballot will pit Buck, Bennet and Stringer against each other.
In the Colorado Congressional race, Archuleta County did not see eye-to-eye with Colorado voters statewide.
In Archuleta County, Bob McConnell received 809 votes for U.S. Rep, while Scott Tipton received 631. Tipton will face incumbent Dem. John Salazar on the November ballot.
