Ranger district hosts interpretive tour

The Pagosa Ranger District of the San Juan Public Lands provides free, entertaining, interpretive and informational programs for the public at various times and locations each summer.

The first tour this summer is titled “The Forest Tells a Story.” Susan Halabrin will lead a driving and walking tour of the changing forest in the Turkey Springs area on Thursday, May 27, at 9 a.m.

Susan is intrigued by the way landscapes in Colorado change over time in response to disturbance. A student of plant ecology, biochemistry and physical geography, she is a former biology instructor for Front Range Community College in Boulder County, with expertise in wildflower identification, fire ecology and ecosystems.

This program is limited to 15 participants.
