Glenn L. Kennedy, 83, of Radium Springs, N.M., passed away at home surrounded by his wife, Bonnie, and loving members of his family on the evening of May 15. A service is being planned mid June at the family residence in Radium Springs. Glenn was previously a longtime area resident of Pagosa Springs, leaving for Radium Springs in 1996 where he developed an RV park on the Rio Grande.
Glenn and Bonnie managed Vic Poma’s Texaco service station starting in 1968. Later, they were the owners and operators of Gambles Hardware during the 1970s and ’80s. Among many of Glenn’s civic accomplishments were: recruiting a permanent, full time medical doctor to Pagosa in the early 1970s and he sat on the board which acquired the property for the present Archuleta County landfill.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Bonnie Kennedy, residing in Radium Springs, N.M. Other family includes his son Dr. Ed Kennedy, with wife Nancy and children Sean and Emily, and great-grandchild Toby, all of New Mexico; granddaughter Morgan Kennedy and great-grandsons Caleb and Marcus of Durango; his son, John Kennedy, and grandchildren Shannon of Sedona, Ariz., and Ryan in Portland, Ore., who grew up in Pagosa Springs; daughter Roberta Miller and husband Dick of Pagosa Springs, and daughter Kimberly, of New York, N.Y.
With Bonnie’s successful battle against pancreatic cancer, the family asks that donations be made in memoriam to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org) in the name of Glenn Kennedy.
Condolences can be sent to Bonnie Kennedy at P.O. Box 251, Radium Springs, NM 88054, (575) 649-0732.
