Entering into its seventh year in Pagosa Springs, SHY RABBIT Contemporary Arts: Gallery presents four to six exhibitions annually, showcasing the finest in contemporary art by emerging, mid-career and nationally-recognized artists from throughout the country.
In addition to its expansive exhibition space, SHY RABBIT also houses a fine art gallery featuring a variety of ceramics and prints by SHY RABBIT gallery artists, a working ceramic studio, and two mixed-media workshops.
-Classes of all levels are offered in ceramics, printmaking, and professional artist development, instructed by professional artist and SHY RABBIT creative director,= D. Michael Coffee.
3 PHOTOGRAPHERS marks the 24th show that SHY RABBIT has presented to date, and features a unique selection of photography by Linda Alterwitz, Las Vegas, Nevada; Gary Engle, Cleveland, Ohio; and Mark Gottlieb, Santa Cruz, Calif.
3 PHOTOGRAPHERS’ is the culmination of a two-year process, showcasing an expanded body of work by three artists who were selected by juror D. Michael Coffee, based on their non-conventional approach to the photographic process and/or their desire to create at the threshold.
The exhibit features intriguing close-ups of derelict yet hauntingly beautiful boat-hulls; abstracted composite imagery of landmark Las Vegas hotels printed on aluminum; and emulsion imagery created as the result of a darkroom experiment.
A number of compelling abstract paintings by Karl Isberg are also featured in SHY RABBIT’s Print Studio and Gallery, along with a selection of finely crafted functional and sculptural ceramics by D. Michael Coffee.
SHY RABBIT Contemporary Arts: Gallery, Studio and Workshops is located at 333 Bastille Drive, two blocks north of U.S. 160, off of North Pagosa Boulevard, west of the new City Market complex.
