A long-time resident of Pagosa Springs, Norma Johnson passed away at Pine Ridge Extended Center on May 3, 2010.
Norma was born on Nov. 22, 1930, at Durango, Colo., and was one of three children of Philip and Helen Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Phyllis Gibson. Surviving family members include a brother, Eldon Johnson, of Albuquerque, N.M., a nephew, Scott Gibson, of Evergreen, Colo., and a niece, Amanda Gibson Hough, of Caldwell, Idaho.
Norma attended the Denver Art Institute and was an accomplished artist, particularly as a painter, wood carver and cartoonist. She was also a Sunday school teacher for many years at the Community United Methodist Church in Pagosa Springs.
