Members of the High Country Squares attended the Four Corners Fling in Cortez last month. Grace Wheatly of Gallup, N.M., was the caller, providing a fun weekend for all.
We are looking forward to the New Mexico Northwest District dance to be held on April 16 in Durango, sponsored by the Enchanted Dancers of Farmington.
The High Country Squares belong to two State Square Dance Associations: The Colorado State Square Dance Association, of which we are a member of the Colorado West Area Square Dance Council, and the New Mexico State Square Dance Association, of which we are a member of the Northwest District. Each of these state associations have officers which hold quarterly meetings.
High Country Squares members Jim and Gayle Hawkins have been our representatives in both of these associations for over two years. Recently they were voted vice presidents of the New Mexico Northwest District. We congratulate them on this honor. Teri and John Hoehn will replace them as our district representatives for the New Mexico Northwest District. We thank them for assuming this responsibility.
The club continues to dance on Monday evenings at the Pagosa Lakes Clubhouse with Mainstream and Plus tips. Anyone with square dance experience is welcome to join in. The club will be teaching the Plus Program this summer.
