“Annie” the musical, the popular production based on the well-known comic strip heroine is coming to Pagosa this summer.
Produced by Music Boosters, the next step in the process is to hold auditions, and here they come. Auditions for “Annie” will be held on April 19 and 20 from 6-8:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
“Annie,” with book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin, was inspired by Harold Gray’s “Little Orphan Annie” comic strip. The musical opened on Broadway in 1977 and ran for 2,377 performances, winning seven Tony awards.
The cast includes several male and female adult roles, and an orphanage full of young girl roles, including of course a talented young lady needed to play the title role of Annie.
Besides the lead child role of Annie, we are seeking six other females for roles as orphans, ages 6-3; seven male actors for roles including Rooster, FDR and Daddy Warbucks; 10-12 female roles including Lily and Miss Hannigan; and a male/female chorus for a variety of singing/dancing/acting roles.
Please come prepared to sing one verse of a song; script reading and a group dance audition will be part of the process. Music Boosters is seeking actors ages 6 through adults for roles in the show.
