Kathleen Steventon’s work exhibited at Cheyenne museum

Pagosa artist Kathleen Steventon is currently participating in the 2010 Western Spirit Art Show and Sale at the Old West Museum in Cheyenne, Wyo.

The invitational juried art show is an annual fund-raiser for the museum, and the show features works of 100 artists from across the nation.

Some of the show’s jurors include Chris Navarro, professional sculptor of super-sized Western-themed art pieces, and Nicole Parks, assistant curator at the Denver Art Museum.

Steventon’s textured oil paintings depict interpretations of native wildlife, and her wolf piece shown here, “In His Sight,” sold on the show’s opening night. Steventon’s work is typically vivid and colorful, and is painted on canvas solely with a palette knife.

The Western Spirit Art Show and Sale opened to the public on Saturday, March 6, at the Old West Museum. The show runs through April 18. More information about the show can be obtained by contacting curator Kristen Ruck, (307) 778-7289, or kristenriuck_owm@hotmail.com.

Steventon is represented locally by Wild Spirit Gallery in Pagosa Springs, www.wildspiritgallery.com and at the Blackbird Gallery in Albuquerque, N.M., www.blackbirdgallery.biz. Steventon’s work is also available through her Web site, www.steventonart.com.
