Fault in underground line causes Tuesday power outage

La Plata Electric Association continued Tuesday night to attend to an underground fault in lines in the County Road 600 (Piedra Road) area, which caused 347 customers to lose power at approximately 3:30 p.m.

“With underground lines, it generally takes longer to find the problem,” said Steve Gregg, LPEA manager of operations.

“Fortunately we were able to switch the power to alternate circuits, while we worked to locate the fault and affect repairs.”

All LPEA customers in the area were reported to be back in power by 6 p.m., with LPEA continuing to monitor the situation.
