Everyone in this area is invited to be a part of a unique experience, “Hope for Haiti” this coming Sunday, March 14.
Come to Community United Methodist Church from 4-6 p.m. Bring a potluck dish to share and be ready to take a virtual expedition to Haiti. You will be transported to Haiti as it was before the earthquake devastation through videos, music, and culinary cuisine. You will become immersed in the lively rhythms of life in Haiti. You will explore the many possibilities of what you can do to help the people of Haiti build a new future.
CUMC is committed to sustaining the character and integrity of Haiti — the culture, the heritage, the geography, and the people. The focus this evening will be one of discovery. You will be able to step into one of the most defining chapters in history.
Just a little information about Haiti: With a total land mass about the size of Maryland, the island sustains a population of 7.5 million people with the median age of 17.9 years. Early explorers (did you know Christopher Columbus’ first voyage was to Haiti?) set a terrific precedent for us in Pagosa Springs. They were never content with just scratching the surface. They delved into a place, meeting the locals and learning their culture and heritage. In that same spirit, we have the same opportunity to learn about and help the Haitians in this great time of need.
Bring your friends, your families, and a potluck dish to share at this exciting event. Learn what you can do to help this island family look to the future for themselves and for their country.
