Lovingly called “Pops,” Stanley L. Radcliff was born on June 8, 1957, to Clarence and Lucielle Radcliff. He grew up and graduated in Durango, Colo., Class of 1975. After graduating, Stanley enlisted in the Navy to serve the U.S.
Stanley met and married Bertha “Birdie” Overy in 1988. “Birdie” had two sons, Quinn and Alva, and a third son was born of this marriage, Clarence “CC.” They divorced in 1994.
In May of 1995 Stanley met and married Betty Lee Klitzke. Betty had three children when they met, Donald, Luke and Evelyn. The couple then moved to Shenandoah Valley, Va., and resided there for two years. Upon relocating back to the southwest corner of Colorado, they settled down in Pagosa Springs in 1997. Here, they remained throughout the rest of their lives.
Stanley loved to camp, hunt, fish and explore. He loved to be out with nature, always looking for and finding unique things to talk about, or do. He liked to tinker around with projects, and was always handy with ways to make life and its chores easier.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, in December 2009. Stanley was survived by five stepchildren (Donnie, Luke, Quinn, Evelyn and Alva), his son, (Clarence “CC”), brother (Randy), and parents (Clarence and Lucielle). “Pops” is also survived by nine grandchildren, ranging from 10 months to 13 years old.
A memorial service is to be held at the Ross Aragon Community Center in Pagosa Springs, south conference room, from 1 to 3 p.m., on Friday Jan. 22, 2010. All who knew and loved him are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the local American Cancer Society chapter in his memory.
