A Pagosa Springs woman, Hallie Carreras, 56, was seriously injured in a one-car crash Tuesday morning.

According to a Colorado State Patrol report, the accident occurred at approximately 8:30 a.m. at a site near Bayfield — on U.S. 160 at milepost 97.6.

Carreras was westbound on an icy highway when her vehicle slid off the south side of the roadway and rolled one time down an embankment, through some trees. 

Carreras was extricated from the 2004 Ford Explorer by Bayfield Fire, transported first to Mercy Medical Center, then to Swedish Medical Center in Denver.  The highway was closed for approximately one hour during the rescue operation. 

The exact cause of the crash is under investigation.
