On Monday, Nov. 16, the High Country Squares welcomed 19 new dancers into the club.
The new dancers have been learning the Mainstream Program of square dancing since last June. They have made a commitment and, with determination, they have learned the 69 steps in the program. We congratulate them all and are very proud of them.
To graduate the Mainstream Program, the new dancers took a written test, a dancing test (which included paper bags, balloons and blindfolds) and received their diploma and club badge at a graduation ceremony. A pizza dinner was provided by our callers Jim and Fae Park, and other club members, and dancing followed the meal. It was truly a fun evening.
Five couples joined our dance party from the Hi Valley Swingers from over the mountain in Monte Vista. Other guests attending were from the Durango area.
We will continue to dance the Mainstream Program throughout the winter on Mondays at the Pagosa Lakes Clubhouse from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and the Plus Program from 8 to 9.
Three area callers will be rotating each week to keep us dancing until our club caller returns in early May.
Anyone with dancing experience is welcome to join us.
