Women Helping Women: ‘Having Faith in Angels’

Women Helping Women and Eddie’s Uptown Grille are hosting an all-you-can-eat Tapas Bar from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Those attending the event are asked to donate $20 or more, with the donations going to the fund established to assist Jackie McGuire.

Eddie will close the restaurant to the public for this event. There will be a cash bar, and tickets can be purchased at Eddie’s Uptown Grille at Village Drive and North Pagosa, or by calling Joanne, 946-7545, or JoAnn, 946-9700. Early purchase of tickets is encouraged.

Women Helping Women was formed more than three years ago, when some women in the community needed support while they were going through difficult medical or emotional times. It was important for women who wanted to reach out and help to let those in need know they could be called on for support. The group reaches out when called upon; whether it is transportation to treatment, prayer quilts, visits or financial support, Women Helping Women is a way to get support. Participating is like being a member of special sorority of sorts — one that forges a bond between women in difficult times. And, it’s knowing that if you were in a difficult position, women from all over the community will jump in and take care of you.

The members of Women Helping Women are always willing to help in any way they can.

The Oct. 14 event has a theme — “Having Faith in Angels” — and we have faith that many women will turn out to lend their support. Jackie McGuire, of First Southwest Bank, was instrumental in supporting the opening of Eddie’s Uptown Grille and owner Ed Villanueva would love to raise a lot of money at this event in return for all of Jackie’s help.

If you have questions, call Eddie’s Uptown Grille, JoAnn or Joanne.
