St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church will hold its annual clothing giveaway 8-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24.
Church members collect warm clothing, coats, gloves, hats and other clothing throughout the year and open the doors of the church parish hall to anyone who would like to come by and pick up free items.
“There is absolutely no charge for any of these and there is more than enough to go around,” said clothing giveaway chairperson Teri Sullivan.
The women and men of the church literally spend two full days sorting through the donated items, separating the sizes, types of clothes, children’s, men’s, and women’s items, and discarding items that are not in good condition.
“This is a monumental task, but there is plenty of good fun as we work together to accomplish this goal,” said Sullivan.
“It is our aim for St. Patrick’s to be a mission-minded parish,” said Rev. Doug Neel, rector of St. Patrick’s. “We take our service to the community and to all of God’s children very seriously as we seek to provide opportunities for others to experience the love of Christ through our actions.”
In years past, the church has had so many donations that there was clothing left over. It is their hope that many will come and benefit from this opportunity to find good quality winter clothing for no charge. Each person is encouraged to take what they want and need.
St. Patrick’s is located at 225 S. Pagosa Blvd., next to the hospital. Call the church office at 731-5801 for more information.
