A free fly fishing seminar, sponsored by the San Juan Fly Fishing Federation, will be held Oct. 3, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Registration opens at 9 a.m. The seminar will be held at Cottonwood Campground; meet at the parking lot along the San Juan River, four miles below Navajo Dam.
There will be a wide variety of topics presented tin 20- to 30-minute blocks. We invite you to come participate in our seminar. Here is a listing of program topics:
• Equipment selection and use.
• San Juan River aquatic life, rigging and knots.
• Dry fly fishing and river reading.
• Float tubing and safety.
• Fishing with nymphs, jigs and fish handling.
• Hands-on casting and fly tying.
A New Mexico State Parks day pass is required for each vehicle and will be issued free of charge for all seminar participants while the seminar is in progress. Free refreshments are provided by the SJFFF. Bring a lawn chair for your comfort and a pad and pen to take notes.
