PMH and PSAC exhibits

Pagosa Mountain Hospital and Pagosa Springs Arts Council’s second collaborative Juried Art Exhibition and Silent Auction is on schedule for Oct. 17- Dec. 11.

This year’s opening and artists’ reception will be catered, and will feature keyboard entertainment by John Graves.

The exhibition organizers are seeking two-dimensional work from artists, 18 years and older, residing in Archuleta County and surrounding areas served by the Pagosa Mountain Hospital. Pieces selected for the exhibition must carry the flavor of our area, particularly positive energy. Art pieces submitted should demonstrate one or more characteristics listed: soothing, intriguing, uplifting, joyful, playful, exciting, colorful, hopeful, warm or inspirational. All works must be for sale and original in concept and execution.

Randall Davis, Buster Griggs and Kathleen Steventon have agreed to act as jurors and are eligible to enter the exhibition as well.

Deadline for submissions for this exhibition is Oct. 3.  Contacts for entry forms and further specs on the show are PSAC Gallery at 315 Hermosa St., 264-5020, PSAC@centurytel.net or www.pagosaarts.com. Please feel free to attend, enjoy and share in the talent of our local artists.

“Re-beading”

The theme of the Oct. 3 beading class with Elizabeth Claire Baldwin is “Repair-Restring-Redesign.” You can bring your own materials and if you have a necklace or a piece of jewelry that is no longer appealing you can bring it to the class. It may need to be repaired, restrung or completely redesigned, using crystals and beads to give it a whole new look.

Call PSAC at 264-5020 to register for the class. Also, mark your calendars for a special holiday beading class in December.
