PSWGA teams compete at two tournaments, host seniors event

The Pagosa Springs Women’s Golf Association fielded eight of its lowest handicap players for its match play event at the Hillcrest Golf Club, Aug. 27.

The ladies garnered 21.5 points gross and 30.5 points net against a very competitive team from Dalton Ranch Golf Club.

Participating for Pagosa were Barbara Sanborn, Carrie Weisz, Audrey Johnson, Cherry O’Donnell, Bonnie Hoover, Doe Stringer, Sue Martin and Barb Lewis.

In continued team play action, eight association members traveled to Pinon Hills Golf Club for their match against the host team, Sept. 10.

The ladies garnered 31.5 points gross and 34.5 points net — their current standing in the event was unavailable at press time. Participating for Pagosa were Kay Crumpton, Barbara Sanborn, Carrie Weisz, Audrey Johnson, Cherry O’Connell, Kay McKee, Bonnie Hoover and Doe Stringer. The team’s last match play event is slated for Sept. 21 at the San Juan Country Club in Farmington. For more information, contact team captain Cherry O’Donnell.

The Pagosa Springs Golf Club recently hosted its annual seniors golf tournament, for men and women, Aug. 29 and 30. All participants played the Meadows Ponderosa courses Saturday, and the Pinon Ponderosa courses Sunday, each with a par 71 rating.

In the ladies division, Doe Stringer captured first place gross with a 183, and Bonnie Hoover placed second net with a 142.
