Thomas V. Starritt, born in Marietta, Okla., in 1927, passed away Sept. 9 after a hard-fought battle against cancer and kidney disease.
Tom is survived by his wife, Karen, Sun City, Ariz.; son, Dale, Santa Maria, Calif.; daughter, Natalie and partner Kris, Peoria, Ariz.; stepdaughter, Melissa Nunnink, son-in-law Don Nunnink and grandson, Carter Nunnink all from Auburn, Calif.
Tom had many passions and a varied career. He served 27 years in the USAF retiring as CMSgt. He then went on to become a teacher of autistic children in Orcutt, Calif. Tom’s last period of employment before retiring for the final time was with Lockheed-Martin at VAFB and Denver, Colo. After permanent retirement, Tom, Karen and their beloved golden retrievers moved to Pagosa Springs, there to pursue his passions for ancient Native American culture and the Colorado Rockies. He led guided tours at Chimney Rock Archaeological Area and enjoyed many hours volunteering for the San Juan Mountains Association. Tom enriched the lives of all he touched. He will be greatly missed.
