The Kiwanis Club of Pagosa Springs kicked off a fund-raising effort with First Southwest Bank last week to help Chuck and Jackie McGuire as the couple grapples with the ongoing financial challenges of Jackie’s battle against Mesothelioma — a form of cancer often caused by exposure to asbestos.
Jackie has been employed with First Southwest Bank for nearly a decade and was an active member of the Pagosa Springs Kiwanis Club.
Since Jackie’s diagnosis last year, however, instead of spending time volunteering in Pagosa, the McGuires have spent innumerable hours — and dollars — traveling to doctors and hospitals in Durango and Denver.
To assist the McGuires, staff at First Southwest Bank have established an account where friends and fellow Pagosans can help.
Those wishing to donate can do so at either bank branch, and tellers will have the necessary account information to facilitate the transaction .
First Southwest Bank is located at 643 San Juan St. in downtown Pagosa Springs and at 249 Navajo Trail Drive, about a quarter mile west of North Pagosa Boulevard.
