Colorado fiscal analyst to discuss state budget troubles

Colorado is looking for hundreds of millions of dollars to close a budget shortfall.

State departments, higher education and other agencies are being asked to cut their budgets. This often translates into lost jobs and reduced salaries for all of us.

The news is grim, but Carol Hedges is trying to shed some light on the subject and find solutions. Hedges, a senior fiscal analyst with the Colorado Fiscal Policy Institute, will stop at Fort Lewis College on her speaking tour. Among her qualifications is her work on the recent report, “Looking Forward: Colorado’s Fiscal Prospects Amid a Financial Crisis,” www.thebell.org/node/3353.

Hedges will speak at Fort Lewis College 9-11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, in the Center of Southwest Studies Lyceum. All are welcome to attend this free presentation.
