Tomorrow is the deadline to register for this year’s youth soccer leagues; registrations are available at the recreation office in Town Hall and are also available online in Adobe format through the recreation department link at www.townofpagosasprings.com.
Cost is $30 per player and $15 for each additional child in the same family who participates. The season will begin the first week of September and run through early October. Games will be played Monday-Thursday. If necessary, games which are rained out will be made up on Saturdays.
Player assessment day for the 9-10 and 11-12 youth soccer divisions is Tuesday, Aug. 18 at the Yamaguchi Park athletics field (the new sports complex on South 5th Street).
The 9-10 assessment will begin at 5:20 p.m. and run until 6:30; the 11-12 assessment will begin at 6:45 and last about an hour. All players and coaches in these divisions should attend.
The draft for the 9-10 and 11-12 divisions will be Wednesday, Aug. 19 at 6 p.m. in Town Hall. All head coaches in these divisions should attend.
Also, the recreation Department would like to hear from citizens interested in coaching and/or refereeing this year’s leagues. This year’s age divisions will be 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12. For those interested in coaching the 5-6 division, no previous experience is necessary.
For the 7-8 division, coaches and referees with some previous experience or basic knowledge of the game are preferred, but staff will be available to assist those with no experience during the early part of the season, if necessary.
For the 9-10 and 11-12 divisions, coaches and referees with a good deal of prior experience or a solid understanding of the formations and rules of soccer are strongly preferred.

Coaches and parents who ordered youth baseball photos can contact Jeff Laydon at Pagosa Photography, 264-3686, to arrange pick-up of their orders. The recreation office will provide sponsors with team plaques and photos as soon as they are available.
Adult softball tournament schedules are available at the recreation office and are also posted at the concessions area at the high school softball fields.
Managers are reminded that individual player fees are $30 and due prior to the start of each player’s second game. Checks and money orders should be made payable to the Town of Pagosa Springs. Also, players who did not participate in at least three regular-season games will not be permitted to play in the tournaments.
