Search underway for missing woman

Local law enforcement authorities are searching for a woman who reportedly went missing from the downtown area Sunday night.

According to Pagosa Springs Police Det. Scott Maxwell, authorities were notified at 4 p.m. Monday that Cassandra “Cassie” Chalkley, aka “Moon Flower,” a 26-year-old white female, 140 pounds, 6 feet tall, with reddish brown hair (in dreadlocks) and blue eyes was last seen walking away from the Pagosa Springs Town Park Sunday evening.

Chalkey was wearing a brown shirt emblazoned with a heart with wings, multicolored pants and a red hat, The missing woman has a heart condition and does not have her medication with her.

Maxwell and Archuleta County Det, Rich Valdez, aided by a police dog, searched the area near Town Park without success.

A larger effort was mounted today, with search and rescue personnel canvassing downtown businesses and searching areas adjacent to the San Juan River and Reservoir Hill.
