PSWGA team takes top honor at Columbine Classic
Wednesday, July 22, 2009

Fifteen association members traveled to Dalton Ranch Golf Club, June 25, to compete in its 15th annual Columbine Classic Golf Tournament. The event was an 18-hole invitational for four women playing a two best-ball gross and net format.

The tournament included 96 participants from the Four Corners area and Albuquerque, and they played in three flights according to each team’s handicaps. The team of Leslie Fluharty, Kathy Giordano, Kay McKee and Cindy Simpson captured first place net in the First Flight, with a 126 — 18 strokes below par! Even Dalton’s club pro, Fal Wood, was impressed!

In the special events competitions, Jan Kilgore won the closest to the pin honors in the Championship Flight on the No. 5 hole, a 146-yard par three. Kay McKee won the closest to the pin honors for the First Flight on the No. 14 hole, an 86-yard par 3.

Also representing Pagosa were Kay Crumpton, Lynne Allison, Bonnie Hoover, Audrey Johnson, Cherry O’Donnell, Claudia Johnson, Josie Hummel, Loretta Campuzano, Sheila Rogers and Sue Martin.
