Rolling down the road just weeks after the first major fund-raising event of the season, ABATE, in conjunction with Relay For Life — the peripatetic and philanthropic arm of the American Cancer Society — invites all motorcyclists to participate in a charity run to raise money for cancer awareness.
Bikers are encouraged to meet at Mountain Home Sound and Security at 135 Country Center Drive, Suite C, between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, to register for the charity run. Registration is $20 per bike or $30 per couple (bike and additional rider). Coffee and pastries will be provided by the local ABATE (A Brotherhood Active Towards Education) chapter with T-shirts available for each registration.
After registering in Pagosa Springs, riders will motor on to Chama where a cash lunch will be served at the High Country Lounge. Riders will then return to Pagosa Springs, meeting on the patio at Nello’s Bistro at 135 Country Center Drive.
Back in Pagosa Springs, riders will be eligible for door prizes (donated by several area merchants) and at 3 p.m. a silent auction will take place with bidding open to the public at large.
“We’re really trying to make this a Four Corners event and not just a Pagosa event,” said event organizer Steve Potter. “We’re hoping for a big turnout.”
Potter stated that, although flyers announcing the event would be distributed throughout the Four Corners area, all proceeds from the event will benefit the local American Cancer Society chapter.
