County completes several road projects

The Archuleta County Road and Bridge Department is pleased to announce the completion of several major projects.

Of significance is the completion of the first round of magnesium chloride to over 110 miles of county roads. The application of magnesium chloride began on May 4. Magnesium chloride helps to reduce dust and maintain the durability of the roads. The second round of applications will begin in late summer.

North Pagosa Boulevard, between Aspenglow Boulevard and Mission Drive, is now open to through traffic. This section of the road, which was closed briefly earlier this year for repairs, has been paved.

County Road 975 from Colo. 151 to the intersection of County Road 977 has been paved, and is now open to through traffic. Work began on this project last fall with the final paving to be completed as soon as weather permitted. Just over a mile of road work and asphalt paving completed this project, which was partially funded by a grant from the Department of Local Affairs.

The resurfacing of Park Avenue and a portion of Cloud Cap is expected to begin soon.

Updates, progress, road detours and closures will be posted on the county Web site at www.archuletacounty.org.
