Following is the schedule of activities for June and July for Congregation Har Shalom in Durango.
Thursdays, June 18, 23 and 30, 7 p.m. — Meditation Group/Conscious Community. Contact Harold Shure, 385-6793 or Judith Vanderryn, 247-3292.
Thursday, July 2, 5:30 p.m. — Learn Music of the Sabbath. The group will work on several pieces that can be sung individually or with harmonies suitable for a choir. B’nai Mitzvah students and all those interested in singing and harmonizing are encouraged to attend. Potluck dinner.
Friday, July 3, 7 p.m. —Shabbat Service featuring the music of Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach. Join Scott Buckner for these beautiful and spiritual melodies from this very important Jewish figure.
Thursday, July 9, 5:30 p.m. — B’nai Mitzvah students and others can focus on Singing Prayers for Shabbat Morning Service in a dynamic and engaging way. With pizza dinner.
Saturday, July 11, 10 a.m. — A Learners Torah Service, with Cantor Buckner. This service will emphasize the traditions and background of the Saturday morning Torah service to provide comfort and familiarity with the service. Good for those contemplating leading services and for the B’nai Mitzvah students.
Saturday, July 11, 7 p.m. — Havdalah and Sacred Jewish Chanting. Join in for this engaging spiritual practice. Cantor Buckner uses the style and music of Rabbi Shefa Gold along with his own compositions.
Thursday, July 16 — Potluck barbecue, followed by a casual concert with Scott Buckner and friends. Scott will perform a variety of songs sure to delight and move you. Watch for details.
Friday, July 17, 7 p.m. — Family Shabbat. Bring the whole family to enjoy songs and stories.
Saturday, July 18, 10 a.m. — Torah Service. Engage with Cantor Buckner in the beauty of the Saturday morning service, Rise and Shine.
Thursday, July 23, 5:30 p.m. — Study the Vibrant Texts of Chassidic Masters in the traditional manner of Hevruta (partner study) and group discussion.
Friday, July 24, 7 p.m. — Contemplative Meditative Service, with poetry and beautiful sacred chanting in a unique style with harmony using melodies from Rabbi Shefa Gold and Cantor Scott Buckner.
Saturday, July 25, 10 a.m. — Torah Service. Engage with prayer in creative ways.
Saturday, July 25, 7 p.m. — A spiritual and uplifting Havdalah Service with potluck dessert thank you to Cantor Scott Buckner.
