Jazz duo Lila Mori and Ken Miller to perform Saturday

The acclaimed jazz duo of Lila Mori (vocals) and Ken Miller (piano) is coming to the Festival Tent at Pagosa Brewing Co. this Saturday night, presented by Carl Mori and J.P. Rappenecker productions.

Simply put, Lila is a versatile and dedicated vocal artist and entertainer extraordinaire. For over 35 years, 25 of them in Colorado Springs, she has actively embraced a vocal career as both a jazz and classical artist. One of the highlights of her college career was being invited onstage by the great jazz singer Joe Williams to join him onstage in an impromptu selection. Lila’s talents were recognized nationally when Downbeat Magazine said, “It’s gratifying to hear fine young talent … check out a singer named Lila Mori.”

Lila has appeared at jazz festivals throughout the U.S. as both a guest artist and clinician and appeared as a featured soloist with The Colorado Springs Philharmonic, Colorado Springs Symphony, The Pikes Peak Civic Orchestra, the N.H. Summer Pops Orchestra and The Broadmoor Pops Orchestra. For over 12 years, audiences have thrilled to her performances in the “Penrose Room” at the world famous Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs.

Ken Miller is the entertainment director for the Broadmoor Resort and has over two hundred published compositions. You have heard his award-winning music on many television shows such as: Friends, Saturday Night Live, Medium, Nash Bridges, Judging Amy, Outer Limits, NYPD Blue, Bones, Walker, Texas Ranger and many more. His promo list is extensive with some of the following credits : The Early Show, As The World Turns, 60 Minutes, PGA Championship, Miss Universe 2002, The District, Big Brother, The Late Show, as well as many others too numerous to mention. His music has been chosen for all of the major television networks, including NBC Europe.

Ken has performed for many dignitaries and U.S. Presidents Gerald R. Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Regan, George H.W. Bush and William Clinton. While in the U.S. Air Force Ken “moonlighted” for 15 years in the world-renowned five-diamond restaurant “The Penrose Room” with the Ken Miller Trio featuring Lila Mori.

While visiting her brother, a local musician, Lila was asked to sit in with “the Professor” John Graves, and he later commented, ” One of the pleasant surprises in the music business is discovering an unfamiliar world-class talent such as Lila”.

The venue holds well over two hundred people and will have more than half that available under the big tent, with theatre style seating for this event. New sound and light systems are upgraded to concert quality that handily covers the entire facility with comfort for all. This is a recording event utilizing the newly-installed 24- track studio designed by J.P. Rappenecker with a CD to be released at a future date.

Tickets will be sold at the gate for $15 under the Festival Tent and $10 general admission. Advance tickets may be purchased at Pagosa Brewing Co. with a $2 savings. The presentation of this one -time appearance by this incredible duo begins at 7 p.m. with two, one-hour sets with an intermission.
