Dates set for annual Pine Cone Classic

The local women’s golf association featured a “Choose Your Partner,” best ball net format for its league day May 26.

The ladies played the Pinon Ponderosa courses with a 71 par rating. Each twosome’s score card had the number of strokes they could deduct per hole for the round. At the end of the round, all players totaled their net scores for the total best ball net for each twosome.

Donna Gregory and Kay McKee captured first place with a 61; second went to Barbara Sanborn and Carrie Weisz with a 63; Josie Hummel and Shirley Hunter placed third with a 64; and fourth went to Audrey Johnson and Cherry O’Donnell with a 68.

Immediately following the round, the ladies enjoyed lunch at the club in the Greenskeeper Grille, operated by the Dogwood Restaurant, and held their end-of-the-month general meeting.

Association President Audrey Johnson announced that the Pine Cone Classic Charity Golf Tournament is set for July 7 and 8. This event is a 36-hole invitational tournament comprised of teams of four women playing two best balls net and gross. This year’s charity is the Pagosa Springs Adult Education Center.
