The San Juan chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation will host its annual banquet Saturday.
The event will be held at the Archuleta County Fair building. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
There will be a limited number of tickets for dinner available for purchase at the door. Dinner, raffles, games, silent auction, and a live auction are all on the agenda.
Every year, the Elk Foundation raises money to help conserve and improve habitat for elk, deer, turkeys and a variety of other wildlife in our area. The most noticeable projects in this area are the prescribed burns we saw just a few weeks ago in the Pagosa Springs area. These burns help to clear dead vegetation and add important nutrients to the soil. This provides an adequate place for lush green new growth that many animals use as a food source. So far, the RMEF and its partners have completed more than 465 conservation projects in Colorado.
Please join us Saturday, June 6, and help us to do even more.
