On Sunday, May 31, the Pagosah Unitarian Universalist Fellowship service will be dedicated to considerations involved in the election of a new president of the national Unitarian Universalist Association.
The Sunday Service Committee will present a DVD of a President’s Forum held in Denver last March, showing both presidential candidates in action as they respond to relevant questions.
A discussion period will follow the screening.
The two candidates are: The Reverend Peter Morales of Jefferson Unitarian Church in Golden, Colo., and The Reverend Dr. Laurel Hallman of First Unitarian Church of Dallas, Texas. The voting will take place at the UUA General Assembly this coming June in Salt Lake City, Utah.
As we prepare to celebrate Memorial Day, the children’s program will consider the meaning behind the Vietnam Memorial in Washington D.C. Through story and song, we will respectfully consider the sacrifice of soldiers who have been willing to give up their lives for something they believe in, even though we may not believe in the wars that they fought. We will then create a memorial of our own, recognizing those who have died in the Iraq war.
The service begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Pagosah Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Hall, Unit B-15, Greenbriar Plaza. Turn east on Greenbriar Drive off of North Pagosa Boulevard by the fire station, then left into the back parking lot and look for the big sign.
