Forest Service seeks volunteer ambassadors

The Pagosa Ranger District Office is looking for a few dynamic customer-friendly people to be volunteer public lands ambassadors at the Pagosa Ranger District office and San Juan Mountains Association Book Store in downtown Pagosa Springs.

If you are familiar with National Forest and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands in the Pagosa Springs area and enjoy sharing your knowledge with visitors to those public lands, you may be the perfect candidate!

Ambassadors are trained to answer a variety of questions about Forest and BLM lands, land stewardship, and recreation opportunities. Ambassadors also prepare informational packets, direct telephone calls, sell bookstore products, and help with the general operational needs of the reception area. The volunteer positions are part-time and require a commitment to work four to eight hours for one to two days per week.

The San Juan Mountains Association promotes education, volunteer stewardship, information and hands-on involvement on public lands in southwestern Colorado. Our staff and volunteers work as the non-profit partner of the San Juan National Forest, BLM San Juan Field Office, and BLM Canyons of the Ancients National Monument.

If you are interested in this part-time volunteer opportunity, contact Phyllis Wheaton at the Pagosa Ranger District office of the San Juan Public Lands at (970) 264-1503.

The office is located at 180 Pagosa St.
