Sisson Library’s summer reading program’ is “not just for kids” this year. Registration begins May 26.
The Ruby Sisson Library’s annual summer reading program is set to begin June 1, and will run though July 8. You may register your child at the library from May 26-May 30. This year, we will have one program for preschoolers through second grade, and a program for third to sixth grades, based on the theme “Be Creative@Your Library.”
Each week, as well as stories, we will have performers and activities in all the areas of the creative arts, including music, dance, theater, art and writing. The summer reading program will culminate with a party in Town Park to celebrate accomplishing our reading goals.
For teens and adults we will open our Arts Café on Friday afternoons. The café is part of the “Express Yourself@Your Library” theme. At the Arts Cafe you will be able to enjoy a glass of lemonade or iced tea while experiencing a live art performance.
Throughout the summer reading program we will hold an “Arts in Your Own Backyard Bingo Game,” where teens and adults attempt to fill up a line on our bingo card by attending or participating in different art and performance art experiences offered here in Pagosa Springs. Those who fill in a “Bingo” line can enter the drawing for terrific prizes that have been donated to the library. Prizes include tickets to Music in the Mountains, CDs, tickets to the Springs Theatre Company, digital photo key chains, movie tickets to the Liberty Theater, a gift certificate for Pagosa Pottery, artwork, and more.
Registration forms, program schedules, and bingo cards will be available at the library beginning May 26. For more details, call the Sisson Library at 264-2208.
