Pagosa Springs Pioneer Virginia L. (Selby) Decker passed away in the family home on May 2, 2009.
Virginia was delivered by Dr. Mary Fisher to Harold and Lucy Bennett Selby at the Selby Ranch on September 16, 1914.
Virginia was very active in the community all her life. She was a founding member of the San Juan Historical Society, a charter member of Beta Sigma Phi, and was a lifetime member. She started the Home Nursing Visitation Program and Well Baby Clinic, was a Brownie leader, 4-H Leader, and a substitute teacher in the local schools, along with helping her husband Paul on The Decker Ranch where they raised Registered Hereford Cattle, later owning and operating a hardware business for over 35 years.
Her family was the most important thing in her life.
Her hobbies were painting and gardening.
Virginia is survived by one sister, Goldie Hunt, of Kirtland N.M.; two children, Ron Decker (Becca Smith) and Judy James; five grandchildren, Warren (Brenda) Decker, Ronna Decker, Tom (Cinda) James, Todd James, and Morgana (Ken) Trenholm; seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Paul Decker, one brother, and three sisters.
