On Sunday, April 19, 2009, Miss Judy Jacobs, formerly of Pagosa Springs, Colo., ran joyfully into the arms of her loving God. Judy, daughter of Bob and Joann Jacobs, was born May 30, 1968, in Houston, Texas. She was welcomed into the family by her brothers, Paul and Mark, and her sister, Sherri. Judy grew up in Texas, and in 1994, she moved to Pagosa Springs, where she immediately became involved in community activities including volunteering at Seeds of Learning, working with Community Connections, learning sign language, volunteering at local thrift shops, participating in Special Olympics and even singing karaoke every chance she got! Judy made many friends at her church, Restoration Fellowship (formerly Community Bible Church), who loved and adored her. Although Judy had cerebral palsy, her disabilities didn’t get in her way when it came to having fun. Her many adventures included two trips to California to personally meet her favorite performer, Donny Osmond! Judy was a beautiful woman who filled the lives of those who knew her in a special and unique way. We can take comfort in knowing that today and always Judy will be singing “Amazing Grace” before the throne of the Lord!
Judy is survived by her parents, Bob and Joann Jacobs, of Midlothian, Texas, brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Kathy and Mark and Leslie, and sister and brother-in-law, Sherri and Steve, five nephews, one niece, two great-nephews and two great-nieces and all the many caregivers who have been a part of Judy’s life. A private gathering will be held to celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, if you want to remember Judy in a special way a donation to Judy’s sponsored child through Children’s International is suggested. Checks can be sent to Children’s International, P.O. Box 219055, Kansas City, MO 64121, Attention: Kathy Morrison. Please note on your gift “In memory of Judy Jacobs — Account Number 5156684.” Donations will be placed in an account specifically for Judy’s sponsored child.
