Advanced High School Art Students Exhibit opens April 30

Next up at the PSAC will be the Advanced High School Art Students Exhibit, which will open with an artists’ reception Thursday, April 30, from 5-7 p.m. in Town Park Gallery.

The current exhibit: Convergence: Three Women Artists will run until Tuesday, April 28. Our new hours are Tuesday through Sunday from noon-4 p.m.

Exhibit postcards in digital form

In an effort to reduce our costs and save on the use of paper, PSAC is going to be sending exhibit postcards in an e-mail blast from now on.

We hope we won’t miss contacting you and we would like our members to notify us if they have a new e-mail address or if their e-mail address has changed. Our e-mail address is psac@centurytel.net or you can call 264-5020 and we’ll look forward to hearing from you.

Beginners I Watercolor Workshop

Denny Rose and Ginnie Bartlett will offer this adult workshop on May 6, 7 and 8, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the community center. The class is for individuals who have always wanted to try their hand at watercolor, who are not ready to take other workshops or who have tried watercolor on their own. It offers a chance to learn to paint with others who are sure they have no talent, those frustrated by other classes and those who have struggled to learn on their own with limited success. Come and join us. Learn the important things you need to know about materials and techniques to begin creating your own works of art. Watercolor is magic and we’ll have lots of fun as you learn!

Mornings are spent on lessons and exercises with brushes, paint and paper, and learning the basics of brush strokes, value, color and simple painting techniques. Afternoons will be spent painting. Denny and Ginnie use an overhead teaching mirror as they demonstrate each step. You’ll see how the materials are handled and follow the instructor in completing a painting using the lessons of the morning.

Call PSAC at 264-5020 to register and for a supply list. Please bring a lunch — we don’t stop long enough for you to go out.

Plein Air Painters

Plein Air Painters meet the third Thursday of the month at 10 a.m. at a predetermined location. Painters who work in any media are welcome. It’s a wonderful opportunity to share tips, ideas and resources. If the weather is nice, we paint outdoors. If the weather is bad we will paint in the Arts and Crafts Room. Please keep in mind that turpentine based painting materials can not be used in the community center. On May 21 we will meet at Town Park, near the PSAC Gallery. Please contact PSAC for more information at 264-5020.
