Betty Jane See was born May 20, 1925, and died March 24, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center. Betty was born in Osceola City, Iowa, the daughter of Ross Emerson See and Lena Flavilla Warrington.
Betty completed high school in Iowa, then completed her working career at Southwestern Bell in Oklahoma City where she worked for 25-plus years. She married her husband, Raymond Vale James, on April 11, 1977, and at retirement they moved to the mountains of Pagosa Springs, Colo., where they lived for many years. She loved caring for her many cats, doing genealogical research, and was a lifetime member of the Telecom Pioneer organization. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, who died Aug. 18, 2008.
Betty is survived by her stepson, Mark R. James, and granddaughter McKenzie Vale James of Durango; stepdaughter, Debra Kinney; sister Jean Prothe of Iola, Kans.; nieces Cydney Willis and Connie Rutledge; one great nephew, two great nieces, and three great-great nieces.
Cremation has taken place and burial will be at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, N.M. with her husband.
