Seeds of Learning
The preschool students and staff at Seeds of Learning would like to thank Dr. Jordan Rutherford for coming to visit on Friday, Feb. 20. We enjoyed learning how to brush our teeth and taking turns brushing Scruffy’s teeth. Thank you for the toothbrushes. Learning how to make our smiles healthy and bright is fun.

Soup for the Soul
I can’t begin to thank all of those who were involved in helping make this year’s Soup for the Soul such a big success. This year, we raised more money than ever for Hospice of Mercy and it’s all because of our participating restaurants, volunteers, staff and local high school students. Because of your time and generosity, we will be able to provide more charity care for hospice patients in our community and provide services not covered by Medicare including bereavement services, spiritual care and volunteer coordination. The generous silent auction donating artists and local businesses also enabled us to raise additional funds for hospice.
We could not have put on the event without the help from our wonderful volunteers and staff. Thank you to Trisha and Wes Arrighetti, Don and Nancy Strait, Richard and Janet Miller, Diane Geraghty, Judy Smith, Joe and Lillian Steele, Paula Mooney, Earl Caudill, David and BaiLee Gallegos, Mckenzie and Molly Graham.
I would like to thank the art students of Rebekah Wilkins-Pepiton at Pagosa Springs High School for contributing the beautiful centerpiece vases: Mike Flihan, Samara Hernandez, Jocelyn Havens, Jenny Low, Trey Gholson, Kyle Monks, and Julia Adams. Cynthia Toner’s Future Business Leaders of America also played a vital role in helping set up, work the event and clean up: Taylor McKee, Sarah Stuckwish, Jacob Haynes, Jordin Frey, Elliott Harwood, Crystal Purcell, Charisse Morris, Brooke Spears, Courtney Hudnall, Mele Lelievre, Danielle Pajak, Ryan Stahl, Taylor Cunningham, Thomas Patane, Jacie Harms, Casey Crow, Emmi Greer, Lars Schneider, Sarah Smith, Jordan McCulloch, Kade Skoglund, Ashley Taylor and Ryan Searle.
Other accolades go to J. P. Rappenecker for music and video assistance, DJ dude Mike Hayward; Pagosa Brewery, Mountain Spirits and the Pagosa Springs Chamber of Commerce and Moonlight Books for assistance with ticket sales.
Thank you to our great sponsor, Pagosa Ski Rentals, which every year supplies our athletes with their equipment for skiing. To Roseanne Pitcher and the Wolf Creek Ski Area for your wonderful hospitality and attention to our athletes no matter what level they are skiing or if they are snowshoeing — you have helped them grow to the blue ribbon winners they have become. From the magic carpet to the Treasure lift you have been a part of their progress.
To all our volunteer coaches we are forever grateful: Jody McAlister, Buck and Mary Gamache, Marsha and Terry Baker, Harry Gunn, Marilyn Stroud, Becky Berg and Kim Hunsicker. And thanks to The Pagosa SUN for always finding room for just one more photo of our athletes.
