The Pagosa Nordic Club will host a full moon/sunset ski and free barbecue Sunday, March 8 at the West Fork Trailhead.
Nordic club members will groom the West Fork Trailhead area for cross country skiing, skate skiing and snowshoeing. The terrain is flat and suitable for beginners.
The barbecue begins at 5:45 p.m. Nordic club members encourage barbecue attendees to bring a side dish sufficient for four to five people. The club will provide a grill with turkey burgers, hot dogs, buns and condiments, but participants are welcome to bring other items for grilling. The club will also provide hot water, tea and cocoa.
In addition to a side dish, participants are encouraged to bring reusable plates and utensils. However, the club will have paper plates, plastic utensils and cups on hand.
Skiers and snowshoers can also enjoy a bonfire, and participants are encouraged to bring a chair.
The West Fork Trailhead is located about 10 miles east of Pagosa Springs on U.S. 160. Access is on the left side of the road about a mile before Treasure Falls.
