Full adult basketball league schedule next week

Adult basketball leagues began this week on a limited basis, but will hit full stride next week with 20 teams scheduled to take the floor in the junior high and intermediate school gymnasiums.

Managers are reminded that team registration fees are $250 per team, plus a $30 fee per player. Team and player fees are due at the start of each team’s second game. Also, numbered jerseys of similar color are required attire for participation in this year’s leagues.

Rosters may carry as many as 15 players; players are eligible to participate if they will be 16 years of age or older as of March 1. Players may be added to the roster at any time throughout the season, but participants who have not paid the $30 player fee before the start of their second game will not be permitted to play.

Adult basketball schedules are available at the recreation office and on the recreation department page at www.townofpagosasprings.com. The season will run through mid-April.

Call the recreation office at 264-4151, Ext. 231 for more information.

After a two-week hiatus, indoor soccer resumes this weekend.

This free “pick-up” style program for players ages 5-and-over is held Saturdays from 10 a.m.-noon in the Community Center gym (when space is available).

The program consists of informal scrimmages, practice and instruction. Non-marking athletic shoes are required; skating shoes are not recommended. The season is expected to run through late March or early April.

Indoor soccer balls and goals will be provided; outdoor balls will not be permitted. Shin guards are highly recommended for all participants.

Tree recycling

The Town of Pagosa Springs is conducting a Christmas tree recycling program. Anyone wishing to participate in this program can take trees to be recycled to South Pagosa Park on South 8th Street between now and the end of March.

Look for the signs directing recyclers to the collection area. To ensure that trees can be properly recycled, please remove all lights and ornaments before leaving your tree.

The parks department will chip the collected trees into mulch to be used for landscaping projects during the coming season.

Fireworks donations

The recreation department is accepting donations for this year’s Fourth of July fireworks show.

Donations in any amount will be accepted; checks and money orders should be made payable to Town of Pagosa Springs.

Donations should be addressed “Attention: Fireworks” and mailed to P.O. Box 1859, Pagosa Springs, CO 81147. If you would like to make a cash donation, please do so in person at the front desk in Town Hall.
