Family and friends gathered at Boss Hoggs February 21 to honor Doris and Pete Milan on their 60th wedding anniversary. Enjoying the event are, front row from left, grandsons Alex Moomaw, Rob Bradshaw and Matt Moomaw; second row, left to right, the celebrating couple Pete and Doris Milan, daughter Janis Moomaw, son-in-law Bob Moomaw, and Mary Cruz; with friends standing behind. The Milans moved to Pagosa Springs from Elberta, Ala. full time in 2004. They are well known in town for their creative skills, Pete in woodworking and Doris in floral design. Her wreaths and other Christmas decorations are always bestsellers at Pagosa’s annual Festival of Trees. They met on a blind date and were married three months later in Pensacola, Fla., when she was 16 and he was 18. They attribute their long and happy marriage to liking each other, being able to joke with one another and always doing things together. Doris says her Aunt Mildred gave her the best advice: “Always go with Pete if he asks, no matter what you were doing.”
