Michael Archuleta Sr. passed away peacefully Jan. 18, 2009, at his home in Pagosa Springs, following a short illness.
He began his education in Pagosa Junction where he attended grade school and graduated from Ridgway High School in 1955.
He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he served his country for four years. He then served with the Colorado National Guard until his retirement in 1962.
He is survived by his four sons, Michael Jr., of Arboles; Manuel, of Durango; Matthew Sr., of Pagosa Springs; and Marc, of Arboles; six sisters, Carol Pacheco, of Pagosa Springs; Juanita Archuleta (Fred), of Farmington; Josie Brinks (Don), of Pagosa Springs; Mary (Murina) Brunson (Rod); Marie (Elsie) Johnson (Kurt), and Theresa Lucero (Albert), of Pagosa Springs; granddaughter Amanda, of Denver; grandson Matthew Jr., of Pagosa Springs; and one great-grandson, Romeo, of Denver. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends worldwide.
Rosary will be Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at 7 p.m., and Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at 10 a.m., at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be at Hilltop Cemetery with full military honors.
